Columbia Protection is a private security company based in Spokane, providing proactive patrol, alarm response, and property protection services for commercial clients. Our mission is simple: reduce crime, protect people, and maintain order on the properties entrusted to us.
Most security companies operate as passive observers. Cameras are watched, reports are written, and the police are called after something has already gone wrong. By that point, the damage is done. Columbia Protection was built around a different philosophy. Security should prevent problems, not simply document them.
Our officers focus on visible presence, consistent patrol, and decisive action when laws are being broken. Criminal activity thrives in places where no one takes responsibility for the space. When a property is actively watched and professionally managed, the environment changes quickly. Trespassing declines, vandalism decreases, and tenants feel safer using the space.
Columbia Protection provides mobile patrol services, alarm response, incident investigation, and property risk assessments. We work primarily with commercial properties that need consistent oversight but do not require full-time on-site security staff.
A key difference between our company and many others in the industry is our willingness to enforce the law when necessary. Many security providers avoid detaining trespassers due to liability concerns. Our company carries the insurance, training, and internal policies required to lawfully detain individuals committing crimes on the properties we protect when circumstances warrant it. The goal is not confrontation or altercations. The goal is accountability and deterrence, and we do it extremely well.

we broke the mold
After retiring from the military, our CEO, Mike, entered the private security industry expecting to continue the same kind of mission-driven work.
Instead, he found himself moving between several companies that struggled with the same ethical and legal problems. Corners were cut, responsibility was avoided by owners, and protecting the client often took a back seat to avoiding liability. Some companies even saw themselves as “cowboys” and sought “action” wherever and whenever they could get it, opening themselves and their clients up to serious liability.
Over time, Mike became frustrated enough to consider leaving the industry altogether. But through a series of circumstances that felt like a clear calling, he came to a different conclusion. Instead of searching for a company that did security the right way, he needed to build one.
Columbia Protection was founded on that conviction. The company exists to bring integrity, accountability, and professionalism back to a field that too often forgets its purpose: protecting people and property.
