Training That Goes Beyond the State Minimum

Most security companies train their officers to the state minimum and stop there. Columbia Protection doesn't. We're a Washington CJTC-licensed security agency (#24000659), and every officer starts by meeting the CJTC basic requirements — the entry-level benchmark every officer must meet. Then we go further: scenario-based training on a state-of-the-art laser simulator, decision-making under pressure, and instruction from certified professionals with emergency-response, federal law enforcement, and military (SERE) backgrounds.

Columbia Protection provides ARMED officers only — so the people protecting your property train like it matters, because it does.

Beyond the State Minimum

Columbia Protection is a Washington CJTC-licensed security agency (#24000659). The CJTC basic requirements are the entry-level benchmark every officer must meet — and every Columbia Protection officer meets them.

But the state minimum is a floor, not a ceiling. Where many agencies stop, we keep going: scenario-based training, a state-of-the-art laser simulator, and certified instructors with real-world emergency-response, federal law enforcement, and military (SERE) backgrounds.

And because Columbia Protection provides ARMED officers only, every officer we field trains to the standard an armed professional should meet — not just the minimum the state requires.

A State-of-the-Art Laser Simulator

Columbia Protection officers train on a state-of-the-art laser simulator — built in partnership with Gather N' Shoot — that was previously unavailable to the public in Spokane. It's the same class of system used by law enforcement.

This isn't target practice. Officers run realistic, branching scenarios that demand judgment: real-world emergencies, decision-making under pressure, and use-of-force decisions with real consequences in the simulation. It's the closest thing to field experience without being in the field.

The simulator is so effective that other security agencies train their officers on it too. And if your company — or you as an individual — wants simulator training, it's available through the Columbia Protection Security Academy: cpsasim.com.

Scenario-Based Training: Decisions Under Pressure

Classroom instruction teaches the rules. Scenario-based training teaches judgment. Columbia Protection officers rehearse real-world emergencies — the kinds of fast-moving, high-stakes situations where there's no time to look up the answer.

In the simulator and in live exercises, officers practice decision-making under pressure and use-of-force judgment: when to engage, when to de-escalate, and how to protect people and property within the law. They make mistakes in training so they don't make them on your site.

Instructors With Real-World Backgrounds

Great training requires great instructors. Columbia Protection's instructors are certified professionals whose backgrounds span emergency response, federal law enforcement, and the military — including SERE.

They've made real decisions under real pressure, and they teach officers to do the same. That experience is what turns simulator time and scenario reps into judgment officers can rely on in the field.

What Others Say About Our Training

"We had the honor of being one of the first security agencies to test out the Columbia Protection simulator. I believe a scenario-based simulation adds immense value and training opportunities for the security field... I am glad that Columbia Protection has this and is willing to share it with others."
